The Skimmer Wall
I really liked the wall to wall
skimmer option I had buillt in my 110
so I designed this wall to give me a full width
skimmer overflow to keep the surface clean and able to
exchange O2.
I started with a 1/4" thick Lexan sheet cut 1/8"
smaller than the
internal tank dimensions. I used a hand router with a 1/4"
bit
to cut the teeth into the top edge to help keep critters
out
I then used a full tube of black 100% silicone to outline
the edges and
crisscrossed the tank back into 6 sections
adding a big blob in the middle of each box that was created.
I roughed up the back surface of the Lexan sheet with a
dremel tool and placed the sheet in place with a few 1/2"
spacers behind it.
I then filled the edges all around the sheet with silicone
to finish.

The
Water Delivery
Following my previous design to
distribute return water
throughout the tank I designed this under the sand
manifold system. The uprights will not only move water but they
will support all of the rock up off the sand bed to allow
critters and flow access to the whole sand surface.

Ocean
Motions
I decided to
incorporate an Ocean Motion Squirt 2 way
to allow the currents in the tank to oscillate and help recreate
what I hope to be a more realistic environment for my tanks
inhabitants. The OM2Way uses the left and right manifolds to
deliver the approximately 800 to 900 GPH back into the tank
from the
basement positioned sump
